Entropy Search

Entropy Search is a utility that you can place on your site and it allows users to be able to search your site. This can be useful if you have an information based website with lots of information spread out.

When you click the Entropy Search you will notice a couple of options. NOTE: The Entropy Search will only index HTML documents and documents under your public_html directory. It will not index any information you have stored in a MySQL database. You may need to find an additional 3rd party script to search through your MySQL database.

You will see the HTML code that is required to search your site. What this code will do is provide a textbox where users can enter a search term. When the visitors clicks the search button, the Entropy Search program will look through its index and find the pages that best fit the search terms. These results will be displayed on the search result page, based on the template that you created or the default one.

NOTE: You cannot index portions of your site. The Entropy Search script is an all or nothing search program. It will index the entire contents of your public_html directory. There is no way to exclude any portions or include parts of other sites. You might find a 3rd party script that will do this sort of thing, but the Entropy Search script does not.
