To add an account, click the Add Account link. This will take you to a page similiar to:
Enter the desired information for a Login name and a Password. Notice that the Directory: textbox will change when you enter a Login name. By default the Login and the Directory are the same value. This is because commonly the FTP users are used to access part of your public_html directory or to access a sub domain. You can probably leave this to its default setting. If you are creating a user to design your site and want him to have access to all of your public_html directory, then you should set this to / .
After you have created a user, you can go back to the FTP Accounts page and the new user should be listed.
A couple of things to note is that you must log in using the form: username@domain.com. For example the user that I created above was scott. In order for me to log in as this user, I would need to use a Login username of scott@amsnac2.com. Also note, that when you log into the FTP as this user, your path will be different than from your main account. When you login via your main username and password (the one to access your Control Panel), you will be brought to /home/username. With a log in from an FTP user you created, you will be logged in to /home/username/public_html/ftp_user_path, where ftp_user_path is the path you entered when creating the user.
To change the path that a username goes to, you will need to delete the FTP user ane recreate it. You can change the password to an FTP user, by using the Change Password link beside the FTP user.
Allow anonymous access -- This will enable anonymous FTP access to your site. That is anyone that logs into your account aonymously will see any files in your /home/username/public_ftp directory. Users will be able to download these files, but if only this option is checked, users will not be able to upload. One thing to note, you will need to login anonymous with a username of anonymous@domain.com where domain.com is your domain name. The password would be anything, but commonly your e-mail address. Most accounts do not come with an IP, unless specifically stated. If you are having trouble accessing your anonymous FTP, try using the form anonymous@domain.com and if you are still having trouble, please contact us.
Allow anonymous upload -- This option will enable users to upload into the /incoming directory, located at /home/username/public_ftp/incoming . Note that when a user uploads into this directory, regular anonymous users will not be able to view its contents. This is for security reasons.
